SCHOOLS CANAL TRIPS
The Grand Union Canal, on which
we travel, was built over two hundred years ago to
service the Industrial Revolution. Although it is used
today mainly for leisure activities, Stoke Bruerne is
one of the best places on the canals to capture the
atmosphere of the past. Loaded working boats are
frequently seen at Stoke Bruerne, and the Canal Museum
is unsurpassed as a source of information on the lives
of the working boatmen. Our
trips will take you just inside the entrance of
Blisworth Tunnel, which is nearly two miles long. This
will enable you to appreciate the methods of
construction and the enormity of the task facing the
navvies who built it in the 18th century.
'Charlie' takes up to 26 persons at a
time.
If your party is larger, we are happy to arrange a
'shuttle', splitting your group to also explore the
canal museum, waterside walks etc. All school parties must be pre-booked.
Please call us on 07966 503609 to check
availability.
